Transport Wildlife Safely

The highest priority in transporting animals is human and animal safety.

  • Animals should travel in a cardboard box.

  • Reducing visual and noise stimulation will help reduce stress during travel.

  • An animal that does not travel in a box runs a risk of distracting the driver.

Wildlife Center of Salt Lake is a fledgling organization and we have not yet opened our doors to accept wildlife. We recommend the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center of Northern Utah if you have found an injured, ill, or orphaned wild animal, or visit the UDWR Wildlife Rehabilitators page.

Before taking any action with wildlife (unless there is an immediate, life-threatening situation) please contact the appropriate authorities (listed above). Wildlife authorities including licensed wildlife rehabilitators have specific knowledge about species behavior and needs and can direct you further.

Wildlife veterinarian, Heather Barron does a great job explaining how we can leave wild animals in the wild through care and observation. This video was provided to us by LafeberVet.
